Cong ex-MLA Shrishailappa Bidarur collapses at meeting venue, dies

BENGALURU: Former Congress MLA Shrishailappa Bidarur, who had represented Ron and Gadag constituencies, died after a heart attack when he arrived for a party meeting at a resort here on Friday.

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president D K Shivakumar had convened the meeting to discuss the party’s probables for next year’s Assembly elections.

The meeting was cancelled after the death of Shrishailappa Bidarur.

Shrishailappa collapsed even as he was entering the meeting venue and threw up. He was immediately shifted to a hospital, but he did not survive.

The former MLA seemed weak when he got out of his car and had come for the meeting skipping his breakfast.
Following his death, the Congress has put off the meeting to Sunday. A condolence meeting was held at the resort.
