BENGALURU: Chief Minister D K Shivakumar’s post on X regarding neglect of Kannadigas in private companies in Bengaluru drew varied responses, both for and offering suggestions.

Some netizens stressed on good higher education, training and increasing skills. Former CFO and Board Member at Infosys, T V Mohandas Pai, reacted saying, “@DKShivakumar avare at the same time please give better higher education to our youth specially in Kalyan Karnataka. GER is low, soft skills low there. Train them better. Over 60-70% of Faculty in govt colleges are reportedly guest faculty. Please have permanent faculty, fund research in our universities. That is the way to create more highly skilled people in the time of AI. @CMofKarnataka @lkatheeq”.

While there was some opposition to the CM’s post from North Indian employees, there was also support from some Kannadigas who reacted about the injustice happening to them. @taxpayer_Ind0 wrote, “I worked 7 years in Bengaluru and I am from North India. Never face 1% of discrimination from Native Kannadigas. What a beautiful, intelligent people those are. However Tamils are different, once a tamil become my cto, 80% new hired were from Tamilnadu. Kannadigas are best one”.

@AryakavyaA wrote, (Translated from Kannada) “Sir, people from Tamil Nadu and Kerala are after jobs in Karnataka; because of them, Bengaluru, Mysuru traffic problems, all problems in Bengaluru are due to these migrants; these migrants are bringing poverty to Karnataka, bringing their state’s destitution and dumping it here in Karnataka”.

@amoghmannikerix suggested, (Translated from Kannada) “Declare tax exemptions for companies that provide jobs to Kannadigas, sir”. On the other hand, @microdocanza noted, (Translated from Kannada) “Mere words; the Karnataka Government has never stood up for the Kannada people of Karnataka”.
