HAVERI: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Saturday filed one set of nomination papers at the Shiggaon tahsildar’s office. Prior to that, he visited the temple of the village deity and garlanded a statue of Dr B R Ambedkar.

“Today is a good muhurat and I am filing my nomination symbolically. On April 19, I will file another set of nomination papers formally. I will be in my constituency for today. On Sunday, I will tour Raichur and other districts. The electoral battlefield is set and we are confident that we will come back to power with full majority. The central election committee will decide on the candidates for the remaining seats in a day or two”, the CM said.

He expressed confidence that the party will get more seats this time and noted that when some incumbent MLAs are dropped, there is bound to be dissatisfation. “The final list will be released soon and all dissidence will end”, he said. Commenting on his prospects, the CM expressed confidence that he will win with a bigger majority than last time because of the various development works initiated by his government. “The voters of the constituency will vote for development and extend much more support”, he noted.
