BENGALURU: A 16-year-old Class 10 student died by suicide at his house, allegedly after his school teacher scolded him on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Shreyas(16), who was a student at a private school in Ullal Upanagar.
In a note, the boy claimed the teacher abused him in the name of his caste and he couldn’t tolerate it. He hanged himself when there was no one at home.
The boy’s father accused the school teacher of being responsible for his son’s death. A case has been registered against the private school teacher in Gnana Bharati police station, who are investigating.
“On September 11, he went to school, and I got a call from his teachers. When I went there, he was unconscious and hurt. The teacher said she did not beat him, but had just touched him. I was quiet because he was in the tenth grade, thinking they might torture him more. He went to school yesterday to write an exam and came back around 2.30 pm. I had gone to the village. I got a call around 7.30 pm saying that Shreyas had hanged himself. On Wednesday morning, we recovered a death note. He was being beaten up badly. There were some marks on his body, “said Mara Hanumaiah, the father.
“No one has informed us about the incident. This is an accusation against our school. The police are investigating the case. Once the inquiry is complete, we will decide what is to be done. We will follow the due process of law. I had spoken to the boy’s parents. There were personal problems in the family, “claimed Shivakumar, the school principal.
