A 27-year-old woman underwent awake brain surgery in Bengaluru.

BENGALURU: A 27-year-old woman hummed her favourite song while doctors at the city-based Sagar Apollo Hospital performed awake brain surgery on her on Wednesday.

The woman underwent surgery to remove a brain tumour from the speech area. The surgery was performed while she was conscious and hummed her favourite songs. While operating on her, doctors talked to her and told her that music helps her feel less stressed.

The surgical team, led by Dr Murali Mohan S and the anaesthesia team, led by Dr Gayathri of Sagar Hospital, Jayanagar, performed the brain surgery. Dr Murali Mohan has performed several complex surgeries successfully earlier.
