City police seize unaccounted cash

BENGALURU: With the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) coming into force after the Lok Sabha poll schedule was yesterday, the city police have seized lakhs of rupees in cash that was being transported without documents.

A businessman, Narayan, was caught by the police during the vehicle check at night at a checkpost and Rs 12.16 lakh in cash was seized from him. Narayan  hails from Hosur and claimed that he was into chicken trade, and had collected money from shops.

However, since he had no records, a case has been registered at the Ashok Nagar police station and the cash seized from him.

In a separate case, Rs 8 lakh in undocumented cash was seized by the police at a checkpost area in Nelamangala town station limits
