BENGALURU: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which is probing the incident where a mobile phone was placed in the women’s washroom of a paramedical college at Udupi to film girls, has not been able to retrieve videos from the phones which were seized from the three accused girls.

The phones had been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to retrieve the phones, but the CID was told orally that it may not be possible to retrieve the videos, sources said.

The Udupi police had custody of the phones for 10 days before the CID took over the investigation and sent it to the FSL. The CID now plans to write to the service providers to see whether any technical data can be retrieved from the phones.

Meanwhile, ADGP-CID Manish Kharbikar visited Udupi today. A team of senior officials questioned members of the college administration, the victims and the accused in the case. The ADGP said he will be camping in Udupi for as long as necessary, and added that the investigation is going on.
