HUBBALLI: The two killers of Sarala Vastu firm Chandrashekar Guruji have confessed to the Vidyanagar police that they killed him because he would create stumbling blocks in every venture of theirs.

Mahantesh Shirur and Manjunath Marewad told the police that they worked with Chandrashekar for 10-12 years and left in 2016 and started their own businesses including real estate. But Chandrashekar would create hurdles all the time and made it difficult for them to live, they claimed.

“Guruji gave us lot of mental tension. He would threaten us whenever we tried to do something on our own. He used to always create trouble for us”, the duo told the police.

The two men claimed that they had to encounter lot of problems due to Chandrashekar’s interference. “Even if we tried to do business in other towns, he would create trouble for us. We were at the end of our tether and killed him”, they confessed.

They had apparently planned to kill Chandrashekar on July 3 itself and had booked a room at Canara hotel. They met him on the pretext of striking a compromise and had brought along some documents in which they had hidden the knives.

While leaving the hotel after killing Chandrashekar, they left behind the documents and threw one of the knives in a garbage heap outside the hotel and another knife by the roadside while they were fleeing. The police have recovered one of the knives and are looking for the other.
