BENGALURU: The gruesome murder case of senior citizen Jugraj Jain, who was running Deepam Electricals in Chamarajpet, has been solved with the arrest of his employee Bijuram in Gujarat.

Bijuram was caught by the Ameergarh police in Gujarat when he was behaving suspiciously at a checkpost. When he was questioned about the gold in his possession, he spilled the beans. The Gujarat police arrested him and handed him over to the Chamarajpet police.

It is suspected that Bijuram may have had an accomplice. The police are also investigating where all the stolen gold and other valuables have been hidden.

Jugraj Jain (77), who originally hailed from Rajasthan, was the owner of Deepam Electricals in Chamarajpet. For the last four years, he was staying in a flat at Kings Enclave apartment on 4th Cross, Chamarajpet.

He has two sons, Anand and Prakash, and was living with Anand in the apartment. The son had gone to Goa on a business visit while the daughter-in-law was at her parental home in Shikaripura along with her children.

After closing business for the day, Jugraj returned home along with his employee Bijuram. No one else was in the house. The murder is suspected to have been committed around midnight. Bijuram, who started working for Jugraj about six months ago, had complete information about the family’s businesses in electronics and money lending. He even knew where the family had kept crores of rupees in cash, gold and other valuables.

He first went to Jugraj’s room and threw chilli powder into his eyes. Then he tied up the businessman’s hands and feet, gagged him and locked him up in the bathroom. But, when Jugraj started kicking the door, Bijuram strangulated him.

He then packed the cash and valuables in four large packets, which he placed in two big bags, and escaped. He, however, let behind about 26 kg of silver.
