CHAMARAJANAGAR: With Nipah claiming three lives in neighbouring Kerala, the district authorities are on high alert.

Goods vehicles are being sprayed with sanitiser.

Health officials are at the border checkpost in Gundlupet and those entering the state are being checked for symptoms. Their personal details are also being collected and goods vehicles are being sprayed with sanitisers.

A 5-bed ward has been set up at the Gundlupet taluk hospital.

The health officials have also set up a 5-bed ward at the Gundlupet taluk hospital for treatment of patients with symptoms of Nipah. The government had earlier issued an alert for the border districts.
