CESC employee subjected to moral policing at Arasikere bus station, police launch probe

HASSAN: A power utility employee, who had accompanied a Muslim colleague to admit her sister in a hospital, allegedly became a victim of moral policing at the Arasikere bus station on Wednesday night.

Darshan, who is employed with Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) in Tiptur and hailing from Kadur, had gone along with his female colleague, who also hails from Kadur, to admit her sick sister to a hospital in Kadur.

After the hospital admission, the two were having lassi at the Arasikere bus station before returning home when some Muslim youths confronted Darshan and questioned why he was in the company of a woman from their community. They also allegedly tried to attack Darshan.

The youths then tried to take Darshan on a motorcycle, but he escaped and lodged a complaint with the police. The Arasikere Town police have now taken up further investigation.
