A case has been registered against sub-inspector Pradeep Singh and two constables following a custodial death.

KOLAR: A police sub-inspector and two constables have been booked for the custodial death of a suspect in a theft case. An FIR has been registered against Nangli police station SI Pradeep Singh and constables Manjunath and Mahantesh B Poojari for the death of Muniraju on October 1.

The three policemen had picked up Muniraju and Balaji of Madanapalle in Andhra Pradesh for questioning in a theft case on September 17. One of the suspects, Muniraju, died at a private hospital in Kolar on October 1 while he was still in police custody. Shockingly, the SI and the two constables had kept the duo in custody for 15 days without bringing it to the notice of the higher-ups.

Deputy SP Nandakumar conducted a probe into the custodial death and based on his report Kolar SP Narayana had placed the SI and two constables under suspension. A case has also been registered against the trio.
