CHIKKABALLAPUR: A Toyota Innova MPV in which red sanders was being smuggled, crashed into the median on Bengaluru-Hyderabad NH-44, leaving three of the smugglers injured. The roof of the vehicle was completely ripped apart in the accident.
The car (KA 05 MX 9362) was completely smashed in the accident, but miraculously, the occupants Nagaraju, Nagendra and Srinivas survived with injuries. They were shifted to the district hospital in Chikkaballapur for treatment of their injuries.
The Peresandra police have seized 34 logs of red sanders that were being smuggled into Bengaluru from Andhra Pradesh in the car. The logs had been placed under the seats to avoid detection.
