SHIVAMOGGA: Confusion prevailed after an anonymous called informed the Shivamogga district deputy commissioner that villagers of Mugudti village near Ripponpet in Hosanagar taluk have refused to send children to the local Anganwadi in protest against the appointment of a woman from a different caste as the Anganwadi assistant.
After a villager called and informed the district deputy commissioner, officials of the Women and Child Welfare Department and police rushed to inspect. The CDPO and Ripponpet police also held a meeting with the villagers. “Someone cannot give a complaint to the DC without any reason. We are not able to understand what the problem is here. Only eligible people have been selected. Send the children without any confusion”, the officials told the villagers.

“There is no confusion among castes in our village. We are all united. There is no problem”, some of the villagers clarified and added that they are still sending their children to school. The Shivamogga DC had instructed the Women & Child Welfare Department to look into the issue after a person from the village called to complaint against the villagers over the appointment of the anganwadi assistant.
