BENGALURU: The state cabinet has approved Phase 3A of Bengaluru Metro’s expansion, also called the Red Line, which will connect Sarjapur in southeastern Bengaluru to Hebbal in the north.
The 36.59 km long route will have 28 stations, including five interchange stations. The project, estimated to cost Rs 28,405 crore, is expected to be completed by 2031. The Red Line will have 22.14 km of elevated track and 14.45 km of underground track.
The Red Line’s construction cost per kilometer is estimated to be Rs 776 crore. Upon completion, this phase will take the the Metro network to 258 km. The project has received state cabinet approval and will be submitted to the Central government for approval, which holds a 50 per cent equity stake in Namma Metro and is said to take about a year for the Union Cabinet approvals.
The aim is to begin construction in 2026 and complete it by 2031. The 36.59 km route will have including 17 elevated and 11 underground stations. Five interchange stations will be built at Ibbalur, Agara, Dairy Circle, KR Circle and Hebbal.
There will be 28 stations under the project including Sarjapur-Kaada Agrahara Road-Sompura-Dommasandra-Muthanallur Cross-Kudati Gate-Ambedkar Nagar-Carmelaram-Doddakannelli-Kalenkondrahalli-Bellandur Gate-Ibbalur-Agara-Jakkarasandra-Koramangala 3rd Block-Koramangala 2nd Block-Dairy Circle-Nimhans-Shanthinagar-Town Hall-KR Circle-Basaveshwara Circle-Bengaluru Golf Course-Mehkri Circle-Palace Guttahalli-Veterinary College-Ganganagar-Hebbal.
