MADIKERI: A video of some people clad in burqa dancing on stage at a village in Kodagu district has now become the talk of the town.

The West Kolakeri Village Development Association of Kolakeri village in Madikeri taluk celebrated its golden jubilee on May 29. During the celebrations, some burqa clad people, said to be Bajrang Dal activists, can be seen dancing on a stage. The event was reportedly presided over by one Katoleri Kuttappa.

The viral video has now invited criticism. A Twitter user, Mohammed Irshad (@Shaad_Bajpe) tweeted saying it was “sheer mockery of burkha in a stage programme”. He even claimed that the event “was supposed to be attended by BJP MLA K G Bopaiah, and a BJP and Congress MLCs.”
