The bride refused to allow the groom to tie the mangalasutra and did not heed her family members.

CHITRADURGA: A bride called off her wedding just when the groom was about to tie the mangalasutra around her neck, at a marriage hall at Chikkabalyadakere village in Hosadurga taluk on Thursday. The girl claimed that she wanted to pursue her studies and hence, did not want to get married.

Santhosh C L (alias Manjunath) of Chikkabalyadakere and Yamuna G M (alias Aishwarya) of Thippareddy village in Challakere taluk got engaged on December 6 and were to get married on December 7. Everything was fine till the moment the groom approached the bride to tie the mangalasutra in the appointed hour. In a video doing the rounds on social media, the bride can be seen blocking the groom from tying the mangalasutra, much to his shock, even as her family members try to convince her.

The couple had got engaged just the previous day.

The flabbergasted groom can be seen making a couple of attempts to tie the mangalasutra and the bride resisting every time. Finally, when the family and relatives of the bride could not convince her, the wedding was called off. The groom’s side also got into an argument with the bride’s family over the issue.

Later, the girl said she wanted to pursue her studies, but the groom wasn’t agreeable to it and hence, she called off the wedding.
