Brahmotsavam to begin at Tirumala temple tomorrow

TIRUPATI: Tirumala Sri Venkateswara temple is all set for the annual Brahmotsavam, which commences tomorrow. In preparation for the Brahmotsavam, the priests of the temple have performed the ritual Ankuararpanam, which means “sowing the seed”.

The priests performed the Ankurarpana in the Yagashala of the temple.

According to Agama Shastra, before every Vedic festival Ankurarpana will be done. It is believed that by sprouting new grains and praying to God the whole land will be blessed.

According to Hindu mythology lord Vishvaksen will be head of the army of lord and supervises the festival arrangements in a procession in the Mada ( four) streets of the temple as part of the Ankurarpan.

AndhraPradesh CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will offer garments to deity tomorrow on behalf of Andhra Pradesh government. The temple officials made special arrangements for the Chief Minister’s visit to Tirumala. (ANI)
