Bommai Cabinet okays 921 more electric buses for Bengaluru

BENGALURU: The Basavaraj Bommai Cabinet on Thursday approved withdrawal of 39 cases against some individuals on the ground that they were not serious in nature.

Addressing the media after the meeting, Law Minister J C Madhswamy said of the 41 cases before the cabinet, two are not being withdrawn as they were filed under the Representation of People’s Act.

The cabinet also approved the acquisition of 921 electric buses for BMTC with the central government subsidy. The Bangalore North University campus will be developed at a cost of Rs 88 crore. The Lawn Tennis Association will also get 7 acres of land at Thimmasandra village near Yelahanka.

The cabinet approved the construction of a separate building for the Karnataka Housing Board at a cost of Rs 20 crore at Surya Nagar and Rs 12 crore has been approved for the rajakaluve work. For the year 2022-23, Escoms can borrow up to Rs 3,000 crore from financial institutions and the government will give a grant of Rs 806.71 crore.

Among other decision, he said Rs 160 crore will be released for the development of the new campus of the Keladi Shivappa Nayak Horticulture University. Sportspersons who secure medas in Olympics and other international events will be given government jobs based on their educational qualification and there will be a 10-year relaxation in theage criterion.

The Karnataka Civic Services Rules will be amended to allow government employees to declare their assests by March 31 every year instead of the present December. Under the Amrit Swabhiman Scheme, grant of Rs 1.70 lakh will be given to shepherds, for which Rs 92 crore has been set aside. Under the scheme, each shepherd can buy 20 sheep and one ram.

The Channagiri government hospital will be upgraded from a 100-bed facility to a 250-bed hospital at a cost of Rs 26 crore. As part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, the release of 42 prisoners will be recommended to the government.

A housing project at Sattur village, spread over 254 acres was approved. Also, construction of six sub-canals of Narayanapura dam at Deodurg at a cost of Rs 253 crore was okayed. The Lakshmi Venkateshwara temple at Hulimangala will be given 1.36 acres of land whili the Rashtrotthana Parishat will also be given 7 acres of land for the purpose of education at Hiremagalur.

Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, drinking water will be provided to Sonna village at a cost of Rs 37 crore and Rs 36 crore was approved for drinking water projects in other villages like V V Pura, Handihal and Meenahalli.
