BMTC collects Rs 4.62L fine from ticketless passengers

BENGALURU: The vigilance staff of Bengaluru Metropolitan Transportation Corporation(BMTC) checked 18,972 trips, penalised 2,625 ticketless passengers and collected fines of Rs 4.5 lakh. Also, 1,430 cases have also been registered against bus conductors for dereliction of duty in August.

The BMTC conductor is issuing bus tickets to passengers.

The vigilance staff also penalised 119 male passengers for occupying seats reserved for women passengers and imposed fine of Rs 11,900 under Sections 177 and 94 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.

In all, the BMTC has collected Rs 4.62 lakh from 2,744 passengers in August.
