BENGALURU: The BJP’s report on cross-voting during the MLC election seems to have gone into cold storage as, even after two-and-a-half months since receiving the report by a committee led by MLC C T Ravi, no action has been taken.
Questions are now being raised if the BJP state leadership failed to trace those who cross-voted or if there is a plan to deny tickets to those suspected of cross voting in the next in election. The cross-voting case had caused huge embarrassment to the BJP-JDS alliance during the election held on June 18 for seven seats in the legislative council. Four votes of BJP and eight votes of JDS had gone to the Congress candidates.
The JDS washed its hands off the issue by showing disinterest about those who cross-voted. But the BJP formed a committee led by C T Ravi and investigated the case. The committee headed by C T Ravi submitted an interim report after four days of investigation.

The BJP investigation report made no mention of specific names of those who cross-voted, but mentioned the number of cross votes and expressed suspicion about some. The committee had recommended keeping intense watch on MLAs under suspicion.
But even after two and a half months since committee submitted its report, the identities of those who cross-voted has not been revealed. The state BJP leadership too seems to have forgotten the cross-voting case itself and the party can act only if it is known who cross-voted. Otherwise, it can only give a serious thought about not giving ticket in next election to MLAs under suspicion.
