Biker has lucky escape after brush with elephant herd in Bandipur forest

The biker can be seen trying to move his vehicle as the elephant charges at him, but the bike falls and he jumps into the thickets.

CHAMARAJANAGAR: A motorcycle rider escaped being attacked by elephants by a whisker on the national highway connecting Tamil Nadu which runs through Bandipur tiger reserve. The entire incident was captured on a mobile phone by an occupant of a car.

The rider found himself close to the other elephant and calf when he got back to his feet. He can be seen gesturing at the elephants.

In the video, the motorcycle rider and some other cars are seen waiting for the small herd of a male elephant, a female and a calf to move from the roadside when suddenly, one of them moves charges towards the motorcycle rider. The scared rider tries to move the motorcycle, but it falls to the ground and he falls towards the bushes by the roadside.

When the rider got back on his feet, he found himself very close to the other elephant and the calf. In the video, it seems as if the biker is shouting and gesticulating at the elephants to move back. All the three elephants move to the other side of the road, but quickly head back to where they were.

The biker, who was coming from Udhagamangalam had a lucky escape and the elephants moved away without harming him or his motorcycle. The video of the incident has since gone viral on social media.
