KARWAR: Uttara Kannnada BJP MP Ananthkumar Hegde has yet again made a provocative statement claiming that the fate of Jamia Masjid in Bhatkal, popularly known as ‘Chinnada palli’ or ‘golden mosque’, will meet a similar fate as the Babri masjid.

“Just as Babri masjid was destroyed, Bhatkal’s ‘Chinnada Palli’ will also join the list. It will also be demolished like Babri masjid. This is the decision of the Hindu society, it is not Ananthkumar Hegde’s decision,” he said.

Addressing a meeting of party activists in Kumta, the MP said, “Consider it a threat if you want. There is a masjid in CP Bazaar in Sirsi which was earlier the Vijaya Vitthala Temple. The big masjid in Srirangapatna was Mudala Bagilu Maruti Temple. Similarly, there are many desecrated temple in every nook and cranny of the country. Hindu society will not sit quiet until they are removed. Now Ranabhairava has woken up. There is no question of stepping back. Hinduism is not a religion, it does not remain in anyone’s debt. If Hindus don’t avenge the wounds of a thousand years old, I think it’s not Hindu blood”.

“Hindu society has always been divided in the name of caste. Even today, people like Murkha (fool) Ramaiah are dividing Hindu society. This should not continue after so many centuries”, he asserted. Hegde also gave a call to strengthen society so that it does not break even if others try.

“Our opponent is not Congress at all, but the mentality of some people who are anti-Hindu and anti-Sanatan Dharma. Siddaramaiah is our opponent; those who are appeasing minorities for votes are our opponents”, he remarked.

The MP said, “Some people have said that they did not receive the invitation for the Ram Mandir consecration, and that they would not go to the programme after they received the invitation. Now, they are saying they will go to the temple. This is the strength, the power, of Hindu society”.

Sparking another controversy, the former Union minister said that former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and Congress leader Sanjay Gandhi were cursed as sadhus protesting against cow slaughter were shot and killed. “Indira Gandhi was shot dead on Gopasthami day, the result of the curse by the revered ascetic Karpatri Maharaj during a significant agitation for the ban on cow slaughter”, he said.

“When Indira Gandhi was Prime Minister, there was a big agitation to demand a ban on cow slaughter. Dozens of sadhus were assassinated when they were protesting against cow slaughter in the presence of Indira Gandhi. Hundreds of cows were also shot and killed. The great ascetic Karpatri Maharaj cursed Indira Gandhi”, he said.

“He cursed that her clan would be destroyed on ‘Gopasthami day’ itself. Sanjay Gandhi died in a plane crash on Gopashtami, and Indira Gandhi was shot dead on Gopasthami”, Hedge added.

Reacting to the remarks, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah posted on X, “The language used by Uttara Kannada MP Ananthkumar Hegde for political purposes reflects his culture. Is it possible to expect anything better from Anantkumar Hegde, who said that he would change the Constitution when he was a central minister?”
