Belagavi Ayyappa devotees get shelter at masjid in Titimathi

MADIKERI: Despite the ongoing political and communal tensions, the Muslim community in Kodagu, in a unique gesture, provided shelter to Sabarimala Ayyappa Maladharis from Belagavi at the Liwaul Huda Jama Masjid at Titimati in Virajpet taluk.

Five Ayyappa Maladharis devotees from Belagavi were going to Sabarimala temple in Kerala via Kodagu on two-wheelers, but had to put off travel on Thursday night due to bad weather.

At this time, Kamlesh Gowri, Bhimappa Sanadi, N Shivanand, B Gangadhar, and another devotees went to Jama Masjid and sought shelter for the night. The mosque administration rushed to help out the Sabarimala devotees and allowed them to stay in the masjid for the night. Also, all essential requirements were provided to the devotees by the president of the mosque, Usman and K Katib.

On Friday, the five devotees thanked the management and continued their travel to Sabarimala. Earlier, in the morning, the mosque also allowed the Ayyappa Maladharis to offer prayers near the mosque.
