HAVERI: A jilted lover abducted a B.Ed student near the old post office in Haveri for refusing his proposal. The woman was kidnapped in a car when she was on her way to college at 9 am today morning.
As soon as the matter came to light, the police launched a rescue effort. The accused dumped the woman near Motebennur and escaped when police started searching for him. The police tracked the phone number of the woman and rescued her.
The accused has been identified as Vishnu Tagadinamani. A case of kidnapping has been registered at the Haveri Town police station.
The woman has alleged that he was stalking her near the hostel, where she stayed during her studies, and used to come to the bus stand. He tortured her and forced her to accept his proposal. The police are on the lookout for the accused.
