BBMP to cancel permits of bars, clubs, pubs with no smoking zones

BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has issued a warning to pubs, clubs, hotels and bars in Bengaluru, stating that those who fail to comply with regulations will face cancellation of licences.

The BBMP had issued notices to over 300 establishments two weeks ago, citing the lack of designated smoking zones. Despite the notices, many establishments have failed to rectify the issue.

The Palike has warned that all hotels, pubs bars, and restaurants in Bengaluru must adhere to the rules and have designated smoking zones. Failure to comply will result in legal action and licence cancellation.

Vikas Suralkar, BBMP special commissioner, said, “We have issued notices to those who fail to comply with identifying designated smoking zones at pubs, clubs, hotels and bars. If they have not done it, we will definitely take action according to BBMP regulation”.
