BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has handed over documents to the Enforcement Directorate regarding information that the agency had sought in an alleged scam in sinking borewells and setting up reverse osmosis (RO) drinking water plants in five zones in the city.
Palike Engineer-in-Chief B S Prahalad handed over documents related to the officials who were working in the five zones between 2018 and 2019, including the joint commissioners, chief engineers, assistant executive engineers, assistant engineers, other officials and also the contractors who executed the project.
In 2019, BJP former councillor N R Ramesh had lodged a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) with regard to the alleged scam, the investigation into which was later taken over by the ED. The central agency summoned Ramesh on December 12 and recorded a 30-page statement. Now, with the BBMP also submitting documents, the investigation is expected to pick up pace.
