BBMP sets up control room for animal protection after cow udder slashing incident

BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has set up a control room for animal protection after the cow udder slashing incident in Chamarajpet recently.

The Animal Husbandry Department of BBMP has set up a helpline for emergencies. The tollfree helpline number is 1533.

This initiative aims to address animal-related issues like preventing violence. The control room will handle complaints regarding animal birth control, anti-rabies vaccination, dog bites, harassment of animal feeders, and animal cruelty.

The BBMP had decided to resolve the problems of community animals within a time-bound manner. The Animal Husbandry Department has set up the helpline in order to improve coordination with the public on issues related to community animals in BBMP limits.

Here are the time-bound solutions for various animal-related issues:

– Animal Birth Control and Anti-Rabies Vaccination: 5 days
– Dog Bites/Animal Attacks (only stray animals): 2 days
– Harassment of Animal Feeders: 2-3 days
– Breeder/Pet Shop/Meat Shop License: 7 days
– Animal Cruelty Cases (pets and stray animals): 2 days
– Animal transportation (rescue operation) (limited capacity): 1-2 days
