Flexes and banners have been put up illegally in Bengaluru.

BENGALURU: With the Assembly election approaching, the city is plastered with posters and flexes everywhere, but the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) says that its staff are unable to clear all the mess.

The civic body has now planned to call for short-term tenders to clear all the posters and flexes in all the six zones including Shantinagar, Hebbal, Sarvajna Nagar, C V Raman Nagar, Pulakeshi Nagar and Shivajinagar areas, by the end of this month.

The Palike has lodged over 90 complaints on removal of illegal flexes and 52 FIRs have been registered so far. With the election approaching, flexes, posters and banners have come up everywhere and their removal has become an additional task for the BBMP which is already facing a shortage of workers.

All illegal flexes, posters and banners will be removed under the Karnataka Open Places Defacement Act, the BBMP said and has sought cooperation of the general public.
