BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has estimated the damage to the city’s infrastructure due to incessant rain at a loss of Rs 445 crore. A total of 2,319 houses and 204 km of roads were damaged.
The total damage in the east zone is Rs 37.53 crore. The length of the damaged roads is 83.46 km and there are 1,549 damaged houses. There is no damage in the west zone.
The total damage in the south zone is Rs 50 crore, with damaged roads running a total length of 56.45 km and 88 houses suffering damage. The total damage loss in Bommanahalli zone is pegged at Rs 15 crore. The length of the damaged road is 23 km and there are 340 damaged houses.
There was no damage in the Dasarahalli zone, but the total damage in Mahadevpur zone, which was the worst hit, is estimated at Rs 331 crore. No roads or houses were damaged. The total damage in Rajarajeshwari Nagar zone is Rs 10 crore. The length of the damaged road is 39 km, but no houses are damaged here.
The total damage in the Yelahanka zone is Rs 1.5 crore. The damaged road length is 2.5 km, and 342 houses have been damaged due to rain.
