BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has extended the time till April 10 for its officials to file a report on the illegal A khathas issued in the city and warned them of strict action if it is not submitted by then.
The BBMP Special Commissioner (Finance) Jayaram Raipura had earlier set a March 24 deadline for its officials to file the report, but has now extended it by another 15 days.
It is estimated that about one lakh B khatas were illegally converted to A khatas and a committee was formed to identify all such cases in all the eight BBMP zones in the city. In Bommanahalli zone alone, 357 B khatas were illegally changed to A khatas in Ward 194 and 341 similar cases were traced in Ward 196. Once the committee submits its report, action will be taken against those responsible for the illegalities, officials said.
