BENGALURU: Actor and activist Chetan Kumar aka Chetan ‘Ahimsa’ was arrested from his house by the Seshadripuram police on Tuesday for his objectionable posts on social media.

Acting on a complaint by one Shivakumar, which claimed that Chetan’s posts had hurt the sentiments of the Hindu community, the police registered an FIR an arrested him. Chetan had uploaded the posts on Facebook and Twitter. The police produced him before a court which has remanded him to judicial custody.

“Based on the complaint, we arrested him and produced him before a court which remanded him to judicial custody. We have registered the case under Sections 295 and 505 B of IPC and taken up further investigation”, said Deputy Commissioner of Police Srinivas Gowda R.

Chetan was produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.

Following this, Chetan’s lawyers moved court for bail claiming that there is no proof that the actor himself had posted the messages on social media and added that the police had filed a false case against him. The bail plea has been posted for March 23 for further hearing.
