BENGALURU: The horrifying murder of 26-years old Shraddha Walker by her live-in partner Aaftab Amin Poonawala has created furore across the nation.

After that, similar alleged love jihad cases have also came to light. In the light of such recurring incidents, the Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishat (VHP) are planning to launch the ‘Shaurya Yatra’ and ‘Dharma Raksha’ campaigns, respectively against love jihad. The Hindu organisations have released a list of 420 love jihad cases, reported across the nation. They are now preparing to create awareness in every block in Karnataka this month.

As part of the campaign, the Hindu organisations will organise awareness programmes against love jihad and organise rallies in towns and districts. They will distribute brochures (handbills) to every house and sensitise youths by organising a public awareness programme. The Bajrang Dal helpline, which is already operational, will also be given wide publicity.

On the other hand, citizens too are exerting pressure on the Union government to enact laws against love jihad. Unless the government implements strict laws, innocent girls will be victimised, they feel.

Bajrang Dal leader Sunil K R says strict central laws against love jihad are needed.

Bajrang Dal leader Sunil K R said, “We will hold a month-long ‘Shaurya Yatra’ in every taluk and district centres of Karnataka. The campaign is to create awareness about the attacks on Hindu society through love jihad, terror activities and religious  conversion. The campaign will be carried out in main junctions in the city and the activists will wear Bajrang Dal attire with ‘danda’ to build confidence about Hindu society. A strong message will be spread through this campaign. Jihad is targeting Hindu society. It is a systematic conspiracy.”

He claimed that, the Muslim youths are convincing Hindu girls to get married to them. Then, they force Hindu girls to get converted. They might use those girls for illegal activities too. In this way, Islam plans to raise its population, he claimed.

Sunil said, “Hindu organisations are pressuring the Union government to implement strict laws against love jihad.”
