At least 30 passengers injured as minibus overturns in Haveri

HAVERI: At least 30 passengers were injured after a private minibus overturned when the driver lost control near an engineering college in Devagiri village of Haveri taluk.

The condition of four of  injured women is critical. The accident occurred when they were returning home after a wedding in Karjagi village. The police said that the driver lost control and the minibus fell into a ditch near the lake.

Locals and ambulance staff immediately shifted the injured to the district hospital where they were given first aid and sent to KIMS Hospital in Hubballi.

The passengers had left for Tadasa village and the mini bus was supposed to go to Bagalkot after dropping off some relatives at Tadasa village. The incident happened due to the negligence of the driver. The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Haveri Rural police station.
