Another nursing mother dies in Belagavi hospital

BELAGAVI: Following the series of maternal deaths reported in Belagavi, a nursing mother from Kodabagi died after giving birth to a baby girl at BIMS Hospital.

The victim, Vaishali, from Goudawada village in Hukkeri taluk, was admitted to the hospital for delivery. She gave birth to a baby girl via cesarean section, but developed chest pain the next morning. Despite being shifted to the ICU, Vaishali died due to complications.

Her husband, Eranna, alleged that the hospital staff failed to provide timely treatment, leading to her death. This incident has created tension at the hospital, and APMC police visited the hospital to investigate.

In the last six months, 29 maternal deaths have been reported in the district, with Vaishali’s death being the latest. According to Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, most maternal deaths in the state were caused by multi-organ failure and kidney problems.
