UDUPI: The early morning rain on Wednesday brought some respite to the residents of Udupi from the scorching heat over the last two weeks.
The pre-monsoon showers lashed many places including Karkala, Udupi, Hebri and Kundapur and cloudy weather is expected to persist. Earlier, the State Meteorological Department had predicted moderate rainfall in the state for the next five days amidst the increasing heat.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heat wave conditions in many places in the country. The temperature in the coastal district will be 4 to 6 degrees Celsius higher than normal.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has warned states to stock up on the necessary medicines and fluids and has also advised them to pay attention to the supply of clean drinking water.
