HASSAN: Two youths, who went for a swim in a lake in Jinnapur village of Channarayapatna taluk, accidentally drowned to death. The deceased have been identified as Yashwanth Singh alias Ganesh (29) and Rohith (28).
The two youths, who were friends, had finished their welding work on Sunday evening and gone to the lake to swim.
Rohith, who knew how to swim, jumped into the lake first. However, he got entangled in the vines and bushes growing in the lake and cried out for help. Yashwanth jumped into the lake to rescue his friend, but he too got stuck and both youths drowned in the lake and died.
The fire department and police personnel conducted a search operation late at night and recovered the bodies of the two youths from the lake. The police visited the spot and registered a case. The incident occurred in the jurisdiction of the Shravanabelagola police station.
