Thieves tie up 8 members of family, make away with gold, Rs 4.7 lakh case in Mulbagal village

All the eight members of the family were tied up by the thieves.

KOLAR: Four thieves, armed with sharp weapons, barged into a lonely house at Rajendrahalli in Mulbagal taluk, tied up all the eight members of the family and made away with 300 gm of gold ornaments and Rs 4.7 lakh in cash after locking the family inside, on Friday night.

The thieves posed as acquaintances and called out to the house owner Harish around 11 pm. When he opened the door, they barged in with sharp weapons, tied him up and demanded that all valuables be handed over. When they threatened to kill him, Harish’s grandfather Narayanappa agreed to hand over the cash and gold jewellery.

The thieves then tied up all the members of the family including the aged, women and children, broke open the almirah and made away with gold ear studs, finger rings and gold chains apart from Rs 4.70 lakh in cash. They locked the house from outside while fleeing.

The family members somehow managed to free themselves and called the Nangali police who arrived on the scene with fingerprint experts and the dog squad. Kolar SP Nikhil B expressed confidence of nabbing the culprits soon. A case has been registered and further investigation is under way.
