Temple reopens after 11 years in Mysuru village after officials resolve dispute

The temple was reopened after a peace meeting was held in the village.

MYSURU: A temple of Goddess Maramma, which had been closed for 11 years after Dalits were refused entry at Marballi village in Jayapura hobli, has now been reopened after mediation by officials.

The temple was closed 11 years ago after a major controversy erupted over the entry of Dalits into the temple. Now, tahsildar Mahesh Kumar conducted a peace meeting with five leaders of different communities and it was agreed to reopen the temple.

A joyous atmosphere prevailed in the village after the issue was peacefully resolved. Special prayers were also offered to the deity.
