Hotel worker murdered by slashing throat with beer bottle, body dumped by roadside in Udupi

The body of the hotel worker was found dumped by the roadside on Friday morning.

UDUPI: A hotel worker was killed by slashing his throat with a broken beer bottle. His body was found dumped by the roadside near Ananta Kalyan Nagar here on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as Sridhar Nayak, who hailed from Kasarkod in Honnavar taluk of Uttara Kannada district. Sridhar was living in a rented house at worked as a cook at a hotel in Manipal. However, the motive for the murder was not immediately known.

Police Superintendent Dr Arun Kumar said they are looking into all angles.

The dog squad and the forensic team also visited the spot and collected evidence. It is suspected that Sridhar may have been killed late at night or early on Friday morning.

Police Superintendent Dr Arun Kumar, who visited the spot, said preliminary findings indicate that Sridhar was killed by slashing his throat. “He may have been killed late at night or early today morning. We have registered an FIR and are investigating the case from all angles. We are confident of identifying and arresting the culprits soon”, he said.
