Parts of Karnataka to witness rain due to Cyclone Fengal effect

South-interior Karnataka can expect moderate rain till December 3, weather experts say.

BENGALURU: Parts of south-interior Karnataka are likely to experience rain till December 1 as a result of the cyclonic effect in the Bay of Bengal.

Cyclone Fengal is expected to bring rain to the coastal district of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu and holidays have already been declared for schools and colleges in nine districts of Tamil Nadu.

In Karnataka, Kolar is expected to received light rain between November 27 and 28 while from November 29 to December 3, Bengaluru, Shivamogga, Mandya, Mysuru, Chikkaballapur, Tumakuru and other parts of south-interior Karnataka will witness moderate rain, as per the meteorological department.

The minimum temperature in Bengaluru is currently about 20 degrees Celsius and it is expected to drop to 12-14 degrees Celsius with cloudy conditions in the coming days.

Weather expert Roopa Kade said, “A depression in the Bay of Bengal has turned into a cyclone and it will bring rain to Tamil Nadu and the Sri Lanka coast. It is likely that south-interior Karnataka will also experience rain along with Dakshina Kannada district in the coastal region. In north-interior Karnataka, the temperature will drop by 2-4 degrees Celsius than normal”.
