BELAGAVI: One person died while two others sustained injuries, one seriously, after the trailer of a tractor transporting sugarcane toppled on a car on the national highway near the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha on the outskirts of Belagavi around midnight on Monday.
The three men were on their way from Belagavi to Hubballi when the accident occurred. The deceased was identified as Girish Kulkarni (24) of Lakshmi Nagar in Hubballi. While Pratham sustained serious injuries, Girish escaped with minor injuries.
It is suspected that the tractor trailer was overloaded, causing it to topple over. The Hirebagewadi police visited the spot and have registered a case.
