BENGALURU: A businessman committed suicide by setting his car on fire as he was seated inside at a deserted place at Muddinapalya in the city on Saturday evening. The deceased has been identified as Pradeep(42), a hotel consultant by profession.
The incident took place around 2.50 pm under the jurisdiction of Byadarahalli police station. Upon receiving information about the fire, firefighters rushed to the spot and extinguished the flames. Upon inspection, a charred body was found inside the car.
The car bears a Delhi registration number and has a No Objection Certificate (NOC) obtained from Delhi.
Earlier, he purchased 4 liters of petrol from a petrol bunk at Annapoorneshwari Nagar, Bengaluru. Footage from CCTV shows Pradeep arriving at the petrol bunk in his Skoda car and buying petrol.
Preliminary investigation suggests that financial difficulties might have led to his suicide. Police have summoned Pradeep’s wife for questioning.
Pradeep Kumar, the owner of Food Wire India Consultancy in Basavanagudi, was a renowned expert in guiding entrepreneurs to start up new hotels and resorts. His company offered comprehensive services, including licencing, marketing and operations. It is said that Pradeep had invested crores in this venture and had helped many clients achieve success.
Pradeep was associated with several influential people and had received many awards for his work. Despite his professional success, Pradeep’s sudden demise has raised questions about the reasons behind his extreme decision.
The reason behind Pradeep’s suicide is still unknown and is being investigated. The police are yet to record the statement from Pradeep’s wife and are awaiting the Forensic Science Laboratory’s (FSL) report.
ASI Srinivasamurthy registered a case at the Byadarahalli police station for Unnatural Death Report (UDR) under Section 194 of the BNS based on the information received. Further investigation is under way.
