BENGALURU: A thief made away with a passenger’s laptop from a private bus plying between Chennai and Bengaluru. He was caught on the CCTV camera installed inside the bus bringing out the backpack and getting off at an unscheduled stop.
The laptop owner Vignesh was travelling in a bus belonging to SPS Travels in August. When the bus reached Electronics City, he discovered that his bag containing the laptop was missing. He immediately brought the issue to the notice of the bus crew.
It was not known who had stolen the bag and the bus operator too was hesitant to hand over CCTV footage. On Saturday, when the footage was examined, it came to light that the thief, posing as a passenger, got on the bus, stole the laptop and got off midway. An FIR has now been registered at the Electronics City police station and further investigation is under way to identify and nab the thief.
