Likithashri and Naveen had got married on Wednesday morning and died within a few hours of each other.

KOLAR: A newlywed couple died within hours of each other on the day they got married at Chambarasanahalli in KGF taluk on Wednesday. While the new bride died on Wednesday, the groom died on Thursday morning.

Likithasri (20) and Naveen (28) were in love and had got married on Wednesday morning. Naveen hailed from Santur village near Shantipuram in Andhra Pradesh and was living with his sister at Chambarasanahalli. Likithasri was from Bainehalli village.

Around 5 pm on Wednesday, they went into a neighbouring house, locked themselves in and fought with machetes after a dispute. Both were rushed to a hospital, but Likithashri died enroute while Naveen died at Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru on Thursday morning.

Likithashri’s sister Archana said, “They were very happy, it is not true that they fought among themselves. There must have been someone else involved in the killings”. Her grandfather Venkataramanappa also expressed doubts that someone from Naveen’s native village may be involved. “How can the two fight and kill themselves”, he questioned.

Andersonpet police have registered a case and taken up further investigation. Police have tightened security in the village and KGF Superintendent of Police Shantaraju also visited the crime scene.
