BENGALURU: Despite the construction of several flyovers, traffic congestion in Silicon City continues to worsen. The government has come up with a new plan to tackle the issue, and the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has proposed the construction of double-decker flyovers, and metro links to alleviate the problem.
The city’s traffic congestion is the biggest problem as the number of vehicles are increasing by the day and the roads are getting narrower. The government is exploring the possibility of constructing tunnel roads along with Metro links, flyovers and double-decker flyover to reduce the congestion.
A double-decker flyover has been constructed on the Metro yellow line, which is ready for inauguration.
The BMRCL is now planning for feasibility studies for the construction of double-decker flyovers on new routes, including Corridor-1 from JP Nagar 4th phase to Hebbal A (29.2 km), Corridor-2 from Hosahalli to Kadabagere (11.45 km), Corridor-3 from Sarjapur to Iblur (14 km) and Corridor-4 from Agra to Koramangala 3rd Block (2.45 km).
The construction of double-decker flyovers and tunnel roads aims to provide a long-term solution to the city’s traffic problem.
