MANDYA : Shivratri Deshikendra Swamiji of Suttur Mutt felicitated actor ‘Challenging Star’ Darshan on completing 25 years in the Kannada film industry, with a Mysore peta, a shawl and gifted him a Chamundeshwari idol at the Belli Parva D-25 programme, organised Srirangapatna on Saturday evening.
Suttur Swamiji wished that the golden jubilee would be completed as the silver jubilee was. Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji of Adichunchanagiri Mutt is also present. The programme was organized on Ranganathaswamy temple grounds by Indavalu Sacchidananda. Thousands of fans turned up to witness ‘D Boss’ being felicitated.
Arriving at the Belli Parva D-25 event, Darshan first touched the feet of the Swamiji and received his blessings. The fans showered him with cheers and burst firecrackers as he got on to the stage. Darshan was accorded a grand welcome by whistles and claps and fans shouting ‘D Boss’.
Speaking at the event, the Suttur Math Swamiji said that the contribution of artists to art field is immense. “Dr Rajkumar, Vishnuvardhan and Ambareesh were household names. Darshan was born and brought up in Mysuru. It’s a pleasure to celebrate 25 years of his entry into filmdom and we hope to celebrate the golden jubilee as well”, he said while blessing the actor.
Nirmalananda Swamiji of Adichunchanagiri Muth said, “This is a meaningful programme. Art has a lot of power. Darshan has dedicated his life to art. He can rise through his achievement. But success is hard to maintain. Blessings of the god are always upon you”.
Music director Harikrishna and team organized ‘Sangeet Rasa’, a musical extravaganza, in the evening as part of the celebration. Artists performed dances to songs from films starring Darshan. It was like 25 years of Challenging Star Darshan’s film journey unfurled on one platform. A vast star cast was present at the ceremony.
