BENGALURU: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL), which had so far not allowed shooting for teleserials on Namma Metro trains as that may cause inconvenience to metro passengers, has now given the green signal for such shoots.
The decision was taken as BMRCL had been receiving many requests to shoot on the Metro. Those who want to shoot movies or teleserials can apply for permission, but will have to follow the conditions set by BMRCL.
So far, only shooting of movies was allowed and the Metro authorities have banned shooting of videos either at the Metro station or inside the trains for reasons of security and privacy.
Yashavanth Chavan, Chief Public Relations Officer of BMRCL, said shooting is allowed in Metros in Chennai and Delhi. Similarly, many producers had requested that they be allowed to shoot in Bengaluru as well. “Thus, we have decided to allow shooting of teleserials also. Those who want to shoot should apply first, and along with that, they should also give shooting plans and the script of the scene they will be shooting in the metro. The BMRCL committee will review the application and give permission after the verification”, he said.
Chavan said the BMRCL will ensure that passengers do not face any problems due to the shooting. They will allow shooting in the Metro only in the lean hours between 12 pm and 4 pm and not during the peak hours. No permission will be to shoot scenes that have a negative impact on society. While a safety deposit of Rs 6 lakh has to be paid, the charges for shooting will be fixed on the duration. There will be 25 per cent discount for shooting Kannada films, he added.
