BENGALURU: Unidentified miscreants, suspected to be drunk, smashed the windows of 12 cars and other vehicles parked by the roadside in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar in Laggere in the wee hours of Friday.
The damaged vehicles included 12 cars, an autorickshaw, and four goods vehicles. Three miscreants damaged the vehicles around 3 am today with smashing the windows of vehicles parked on the road outside houses with stones. The miscreants have created a mess in five minutes. RR Nagar BJP MLA Muniratna Naidu visited the place and inquired about the incident with the locals.
Muniratna was visibly angry at the police inspector as he had not visited the police even after his visit. Speaking to the media, the MLA said, “The inspector does not have time to visit here even though a serious incident has occurred. Not only this, the whole constituency is witnessing crimes like ganja peddling and consumption during the day and night. There are many reasons for such incidents. The law and order has gone out of hand”.
Meanwhile, some supporters of Benglauru Rural MP D K Suresh expressed outrage at MLA Muniratna and argued with the MLA. At this time, a woman fell unconscious in the crowd and was sent to the hospital immediately. The supporters of D K Suresh asked Munirathna why the Congress should be blamed for the issue and why they should talk against the police department.
Locals said that such incidents have not happened for the last 8 to 10 years, but have started in the locality over the 2-3 months. “This shows the failure of the police department. Our hard-earned money goes into buying a new car, and compensation should be provided to the affected people. If there were people outside, the miscreants may have attacked them too. Such incidents should not be repeated and the police should take stern action against them”, the residents demanded.
The car owners said the problems of bullies have increased these days. “They damaged several vehicles between 3 am and 3.15 am. We informed the police about the vandalism after which they visited the area and assured us of action” they said.
