27 test negative for Zika virus in Sidlaghatta village, health officials await 21 more reports

Officials conducted health checkups in the villages after Zika virus was found in mosquitoes.

CHIKKABALLAPUR: After the presence of the Zika virus was found in mosquitoes at Talakayalabetta village in Sidlaghatta taluk, the blood reports of 27 people who were tested have come back negative.

ASHA workers and health officials conducted surveys in the villages.

The Health Deparment have received the report of the 27 people and are awaiting the test results of another 21 villagers, District Health Officer Mahesh Kumar told Public TV.

After the presence of the Zika virus in mosquitoes was confirmed by the National Institute of Virology lab in Bengaluru, the Health Department officials had conducted health camps in the village and collected samples from pregnant women and those who had developed fever and sent them for tests.
